God’s work at the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake is important. Each day lives are changed, people come to know Jesus, and much-needed services are provided. A legacy gift can help us continue to take care of Utah’s most vulnerable people and build your legacy of helping people off the streets.

Why Give
So many of the people we serve are caught in a cycle of addiction, poverty, and hopelessness. We are breaking that cycle for many. The legacy gift that you leave with the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake will assure that our doors will always be open to men, women and who need help and hope. That is a legacy.
You will be ensuring that your goals in providing for your family and also helping hurting people for eternity are accomplished.
Ways to Give
Legacy giving can be done using different methods. A gift designated in a Will or a Trust can provide ongoing support after your needs have been provided for. Outright Gifts of property (which can include real property, stocks, and life insurance) provides another way that you can give a legacy gift to the Rescue Mission (this method may maximize the impact of your gift without the cost of first converting an asset to cash). An additional method is making a donation directly from your retirement fund which can satisfy your required annual distribution.
Benefits of Giving
The benefits of your gift depend largely on the type of gift. They can include:
- Reducing income taxes
- Avoiding capital gains tax
- Retaining lifetime income
Legacy giving can be designated to the following categories based upon your goals
Capital Fund – To provide for major renovations, expansion or purchase of facilities
Endowment Fund – Long term investments where the principle remains intact yet the growth funds continued operations
General Operating Budget – Supporting our ongoing day to day ministry and needs to end homelessness and restore lives
